Competitions
HOW
DO I GET TO THE COMPETITION? - Many parents car pool
with each other and take turns driving week to week. For our
performance time
and location directions, please visit the Cavalcade of Bands site on
our LINKS
PAGE or select it from the CALENDAR
PAGE. Hope to see
you there EVERY WEEK!
AT THE COMPETITION - Bring blankets to sit on as the bleachers can be cold. The host band usually offers "candy-grams" which cost $1.00 and you can send your child a good luck message or anything that let's them know you care accompanied by a candy treat. Some offer flower-grams also.
SPECTATOR
ETIQUETTE - When attending competitions, try to
sit with other Ryan band parents, wear your show shirt or jackets and
yell,
cheer and clap at appropriate times during their show. Be loud. The
Archbishop
Ryan Marching Band is proud to have an outstanding support audience. Do
not
enter or exit the stands during any band's performance. Do not talk
during any
show (you may be sitting next to another parent whose child is
performing).
Applaud every band after their performance. Remember, the students in
the other
bands have worked just as hard as our own students and they deserve our
respect
and applause too. Regardless of how you may feel about the judge's
decision at
the awards, bite your tongue! Every parent and every band member
performing
feels their band should be number one. Marching band members in every
band are
participating in an activity that is teaching them teamwork, respect
and pride
in what they do. There are no losers in this activity. Everyone is a
first-string
starter!
